Are we looking more at them than we are ourselves?
Corruption in China has deep roots that can be pulled out
only if one is to risk the walls of the City falling upon thee. We’ve heard the tales. The solid gold statue of Mao, the millions of
rmb found molding in sacks. We know all
too well, as well, the sexual escapades of its many government officials.
Crusty over weight officials with thick
wrists and pale soft hands devoid of honest work bouncing on top of a young
lady half their age. An entire black
book at their disposal.
No wait, I’m actually talking of America.
I don’t pretend to sit and write with any great knowledge of
the politicians of any other country besides that of my own. But I challenge someone to find a political
class in any other country (other than China) that has a history of such sexual
misconduct as America’s.
The Anti-China Press gets a big kick reporting on the
failings of China’s leaders. Many of
these writers are young zealous Americans trying to make a mark.
I’d only wish once in a blue moon they’d offer up a wee bit
of context.
China isn’t the only country on this planet inhabited by
Man. I swear of it!
Women by nature are attracted to Men of Absolute Power. And Men have never been able to not think
with their 小弟弟。
Warren Harding, president from 1921-1923. Not only had “more fun” than he was supposed
to, but the Republican Party paid one of his mistresses $50,000 to keep quiet.
FDR….not only did he have an affair with his wife’s social
secretary, Lucy Mercer, but even upon promising to quit this “dirty business”, eventually wound back up with Lucy. With the surreptitious help of his daughter!
Eisenhower….Commander of forces on D-Day. Father of the US Highway System, “the man
who kept us out of Vietnam”, the fellow behind a balanced budget every year
while in office (someone fact check that for me), had his “side dish”. Indeed, he went out of his way to be with
her, and even though to his dying day his orderly swore there was no hanky
panky does anyone believe any of that? We know Eisenhower while in bed with his
driver was constantly writing letters to the wife he was bored with, telling
her how much he loved her, blah blah blah.
He loved his wife so much even after an 18 month absence Marshall had to
order him home to see her.
FDR himself upon spending not more than only a few days with
Eisenhower himself confided to his children that “Eisenhower was sleeping” with
Kay Summersby. Ugly she was not.
Kennedy…….we all know about JFK. Taking the virginity of interns….!
But does anyone know about Lyndon Baines Johnson? LBJ not only had a love child, but if one
looks him up (there is a passing resemblance…mistress? Madeline Brown. Son?
Steven.), you will find he at least had the dignity to at least “take
care” of the boy.
Now it’s time to talk of “Slick Bill”. I’ve spoken plainly of how George Jr. not
only fucked America up, but set it back if not a generation than damn near
quite. Numbers don’t lie and if anyone
honestly thinks and believes Junior was a Great President they only show
themselves to be immune to objectivity.
Still….George Bush Jr. was a breath of fresh air. America’s “Clinton Fatigue” was so intense,
the scandals so omnipresent, the rumors so thick with unethical behavior we
tend to forget that if allowed to Clinton probably would have won a 3rd
term.
While Jackie O had the nation’s deepest sympathy in this
Modern Age people simply say “Hillary didn’t take care of her Man”.
Newt Gingrich…..let’s not forget while Newt was hounding
Clinton about his dishonesty (who is gonna admit to screwing around?) he
himself was having an affair. When he
resigned as Speaker of the House his successor Bob Livingston was given the
job. Only problem was he himself was
fucking around. So he refused the job.
One needs to ask: Are these our Best and Brightest? Or are these the only one's with the blind ambition and bravado to simply not give a damn?
So now we come to Dennis Hastert, yet another former
Republican Speaker of the American House in the news last week, and the whole
damn reason I’m writing this. Hastert
was convicted of sending hush money last week.
Hush money for what? For having
abused not one but several (4?) boys during his time as a wrestling coach. Hastert for his crimes, which may never come
to trial, would probably have gotten at least several years in prison. Instead, he’ll only serve a year.
Think about that for a minute. While the American Republican Party was spending millions of dollars chasing after Clinton's sexual improprieties many in their own leadership was guilty of the same. It's amazing to think Hastert himself did not believe these transgressions would never come out. Pretty self delusional. Why the blackmailer didn't blow the whistle on this guy when he was Speaker is beyond everyone.
And I didn't even include the countless others, if only because quite frankly, their political status simply wasn't high enough to merit the ink.
Yeah, whenever we Americans (the only nation I can speak to)
roll our eyes at yet another Chinese County God keeping a black book(all
willing of course, right?) of mistresses at his beck and call, we need to
remember all we are is the pot calling the kettle black.
We aren’t speaking of “common people”
here. But of officials. To my
worldview there is a difference. Not the
act per say, but the holier than thou accusations one party or one culture insinuates at another.
Sometimes I think our own officials aren't any better than anything China has to offer. I give you Hastert.
The problem in China isn't corruption (which occurs in all developing country), but ultra-nationalism and lack of concern towards strangers.
ReplyDeleteNot just in developing countries Ji Xiang, but developed countries as well!
ReplyDeleteI agree ultra nationalism, as you probably just read in my newest post from yesterday is indeed an issue. The scare is what will happen if it also develops in the West?
